Sandblasting-Abrasive Blasting

The cleaning process of removing materials with high pressure air and a media (such as , Aluminum Oxide, steel grit and various other materials) is known as Abrasive Blasting. Sometimes called Sandblasting, abrasive blasting is effective for cleaning, finishing, deburring, blending and stress relieving of any part that is hard. This process removes slag, rust, imperfections in steel as a preparation for various coatings.

Different types of media include Glass Beads, Ground Glass, Aluminum Oxide, Black Beauty Slag, Steel grit, Steel shot, Walnut Shells, and Corn Cob, each has unique benefits and features

Abrasive Blasting (sandblasting) is done at CARPENTER Industries in a modern, large booth of 23' x 20' x 56' which allows for the abrasive blasting (sandblasting) of large items.  An sample of some of our customers have used us to blast 80 ton chiller/compressors, large (20' Dia.) Pressure Vessels, Caterpillar D8 Bulldozers, Fabricated Steel Structures, Truck Tankers, to name a few.

We abrasive blast (sandblast) steel, iron, copper, brass, aluminum and glass.  We can achieve profiles from .5 Mils to 5 Mil deep. We abrasive blast (sandblast) new or old materials, remove rust, paints, stains and glues.  We also abrasive blast (sandblast) fabricated parts, structural steel, castings, pipe fittings, auto body parts and machine tools parts. We also abrasive blast (sandblast) pipe, inside and out.

The use of sand as a blast media is no longer legal  because of the dangerous crystalline silica that is present in the sand and the "after product" of the blasting process (see Hazard Alert Link)
